Thank you for considering a volunteer position at The Green Mountain Bluegrass & Roots Festival! Volunteers are a key ingredient in creating a GMBR spirit and culture that we all love and cherish. We hope you will help us create this GMBR world by signing up to volunteer your time.

 

Registration and Application

Please read this entire page carefully before proceeding. Volunteers are required to place a $50 deposit, which will be returned upon completion of volunteer obligations. When you’re ready to register, start by making the volunteer deposit on Eventbrite. Please answer all application questions as part of the checkout process. Thank you!

VOLUNTEER CONTRIBUTION:  

  • Make your $50 deposit HERE.

  • Complete the online volunteer application form as part of the Eventbrite checkout process.

  • You must bring ID with you to registration.

  • Volunteers commit to work three shifts for a total of 12-16 hours in exchange for a full festival pass.

  • Deposits will be returned the week after the festival, provided the volunteer has fulfilled the required hours.

  • CANCELLATIONS: If you must cancel we ask that you please let us know as soon as possible, and in any case no later than July 15th. Cancellations after that date will not be eligible for a refund and will put us in a difficult situation!

VOLUNTEER PERK PACKAGE FROM GMBR:

  • T-shirt to be worn during your volunteer shifts

VOLUNTEER TERMS & CONDITIONS:  

  • Volunteers agree to be sober at all times while on duty

  • Volunteers agree to arrive at their shift 15 minutes early

  • Volunteers agree to be friendly and cooperative

  • Volunteers agree to adhere to GMBR Festival safety guidelines

  • Volunteer will wear shoes, their Festival t-shirt and bring a water bottle to shifts. Be prepared for sunshine, darkness and rain as appropriate.

  • Volunteers agree not to bring minor children with them to shift duty

  • Volunteers understand their Staff Commissary is for them alone and other family members cannot accompany them

  • Volunteers agree to complete all shifts assigned and confirmed

  • Volunteers agree to be sure their Crew Chief is notified should they be prevented from completing their shifts by unfortunate circumstances

  • Failure to comply with any of these requirements may result in revocation of volunteer status, admission, camping and privileges.

Requests will be considered on a first-come-first-served basis, and with consideration of applicant’s experience. All volunteer roles require some degree of physical stamina and the ability to stay on task during the entire shift.

Please choose at least three crews when you sign up on the volunteer form, and use the EXPERIENCE text box to briefly state what experience you have to offer in those areas.  The Volunteer Coordinator will match you to a crew that best suits you and the Festival needs. Efforts will be made to honor your requests to “work with” friends and family, but sign up early for the best possible outcome.

Volunteers can begin arriving Wednesday at 2:00pm to be ready to help on Thursday (gates are Thursday at 10:00am). This arrival time does not apply to those on the early setup crew.

PLEASE CONTACT THE VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR AND YOUR CREW CHIEF IF YOU CANNOT FULFILL YOUR VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT. No refunds will be made for the registration fee after July 15th.

Crew Choices + Descriptions

 

1. TRAFFIC + Safety:

Assists campers settling in to keep area orderly and safe and help find campsites as needed. Parks cars efficiently to maintain open roads. In addition to your festival shirt, you will wear a safety vest. Flashlight, water bottle, sunscreen, raingear, and sturdy footwear are needed with some standing and mobility required for most duties. Some overnight shifts available.

2. CAMPGROUND:

Camprground Crew helps arriving campers get settled in an organized way and ensures the smooth operation of the campground throughout the weekend.

3. GATE:

Gate crew will check wristbands and coolers onsite with a friendly, helpful attitude. This crew starts early Thursday.

4. BOX OFFICE:

Experience with credit card payments, efficiency and patience are important here. This crew starts early Thursday.

5. GREEN TEAM:

Recycling and collection of trash in the Festival area and campground. Green Team members shower for free!

6. SET UP PRE-FESTIVAL:

Wednesday and Thursday main days needed with limited Monday and Tuesday duties. Tasks including but not limited to: fencing, setting up interior roadways, signs and banners, dance floor buildout, and assisting stage crew (experience preferred for stage crew). Mobility and stamina required. The Volunteer Coordinator will guide you on arrival times.

7. TAKE DOWN POST-FESTIVAL:

Sunday and Monday with music ending in the early part of Sunday. Take down tasks including but not limited to: fencing, trash removal, signs and banners, dance floor packing, and assisting stage crew (experience preferred for stage crew). Mobility and stamina required.
